TRIBUTE TO SERGIO LEONE

Sergio Leone is the master of the “spaghetti” western! He made the genre respectable and his first film, A Fistful of Dollars, shot former TV cowboy, Clint Eastwood, to stardom. The Astor Theatre is proud to present this tribute to a remarkable director by showcasing all of his Western epics with fully–restored prints. On four successive Sunday nights from February 14.

SUNDAY — February 14 The film that started it all, A Fistful of Dollars [MA 15+], is the first of “the man with no name” trilogy. It screens first at 7 PM on Sunday, February 14. It is followed, of course, by For A Few Dollars More [M].

SUNDAY — February 21 The third film of Leone's “the man with no name” trilogy, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly [MA 15+], is this evening's single–feature presentation. Stars Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef. The session starts at 7 PM on Sunday, February 21.

SUNDAY — February 28 Leone moves from the “traditional” Western to the Mexican Revolution with A Fistful of Dynamite (Duck You Sucker) [M]. Stars include Rod Steiger and James Coburn. The screening starts at 7 PM on Sunday, February 28.

SUNDAY — March 7 The final film in our Leone Tribute, Once Upon A Time In The West (C'era una volta il West) [M], is back on the big screen after years of negotiations. This classic Western stars Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Claudia Cardinale and Jason Robards The single–feature session starts at 7 PM on Sunday, March 7.
