Horror thriller — Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Literally. A young loan officer is placed under a curse after refusing financial help to a prospective customer, who damns her to the pits of hell if she doesn't pass it on within three days. Sounds like a lesson in not messing with desk clerks!
Sam Raimi, the man behind the Evil Dead series, returns to his first horror thriller since those classics, with a script he penned prior to taking on the Spiderman franchise. It received huge critical acclaim upon its debut at Cannes and, despite looking like a commercial horror flick through its promo material, it's actually a taut and snappy fright fest. (AB)
