Frank Capra's legendary film of Philip Van Doren Stern's short story “The Greatest Gift” (which had originally been written by Stern as a Christmas card) is a tale of a young man who thinks his life is worthless but finds his Guardian Angel.
Now a Christmas–season classic, the sentimental tale stars Jimmy Stewart as a man who works all his life to make good in a small town, thinks he's failed and tries to end his life. Guardian Angel Travers comes to show him his mistake. (AJP)
