Believe all the hype - this is one of the most enjoyable movies to come out of America in 2007 and is the latest from the director of Thank You For Smoking. Sixteen-year-old Juno discovers she is nine weeks pregnant, opting to have the child and give it to a worthy couple to raise. Sounds simple, but it is such a refreshing package amongst the avalanche of crap churned out by Hollywood. Lead by the very talented actress Ellen Page it features a great soundtrack including Kimya Dawson and Sonic Youth, plus a shopping list of brilliant supporting characters (especially Juno's parents and the adoptive couple) and an example of where the word "quirky" is actually justifiable. It doesn't seek to dumb down a teen's choice in some very mature matters. (AB)
