Future humans are divided into two groups: the thinkers, who make plans,
and the workers, who achieve goals. When separate, neither group is
complete, but together they make a whole.
Created in 1925/26 by Austrian director Fritz Lang (1890–1976) in
collaboration with his wife, Thea von Harbou Erich. Kettelhut's
Metropolis set designs and drawings helped Lang create the
unique imagery of this science–fiction classic and provided visual
inspiration for Rintaro's Japanese anime of the same name.
Excellent, multi–character performances from Brigette Helm.
Restored version (2002) and for the first time with a Dolby SR stereo recording
based on the original 1927 Orchestral Score. (AJP)
