Semi-Pro [M]
Director: Kent Alterman Starring: Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson The frat-house humour of nearly all of Will Ferrell's comedies is back in Semi-Pro. It's the disco decade of the 1970s and the American Basketball Association is about to be swallowed up by the NBA. Only four teams will be taken onboard and Jackie Moon's team, being the worst, is most likely to be given the flick. Like all Ferrell's comedies of this style, it's about a hero, or fallen hero, getting one last shot at greatness. If you like his brand of humour, it's another bulls eye (lots of body hair, twisted locker room humour, etc) but if you thought Anchorman (arguably Ferrell's best character) was hardly worth the price of the popcorn, steer clear. Enjoyable nonetheless, and glad to see Woody Harrelson still getting work! (AB)
