Dreams, both sleeping and waking, are fodder for Michel Gondry's glorious follow up to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Stephane (Gael-Garcia) lives in his own reality inside his head, where he hosts Stephane TV, and loses himself inside a world, literally, made of cardboard and cellophane. Here he seeks to see the real world as something magical and make some sense of his feelings for Stephanie, the beautiful girl across the hall. Gondry, as in his music videos, shuns digital effects for stop-motion animation, lending a hands on and eccentric feel to Stephane's made up world, and provides a childlike sense of awe for the audience.
