In a side of the South of France not normally covered in the tourist brochures, we meet 61-year-old Slimane Beiji (Habib Boufares) who has been left demoralised and disoriented after being laid off from his job of 35 years at the local shipping yard. Holding on to his long-cherished dream of opening a restaurant, Slimane begins the considerable task of persuading local dignitaries, family and friends that the venture has a future. (PN)
